Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools: a blender/food processor, a cutting board, and a knife.
  • Trim and slice your jalapeno peppers into smaller pieces, adjusting the quantity based on your desired spice level.
  • Peel the garlic cloves and rinse the fresh herbs under cold water.
  • Juice the lemon, ensuring you remove any seeds.

Cooking/Assembly

  • In your blender or food processor, combine jalapenos, garlic, cilantro, parsley, cumin, coriander, cardamom, and salt.
  • Drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil and add the lemon juice.
  • Blend on high for 30–45 seconds until smooth.
  • Stop to scrape down the sides if needed.

Serving

  • Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary by adding more salt or lemon juice.
  • Transfer the sauce to a serving dish or an airtight container.
  • Let it chill for at least 30 minutes for the best flavor before enjoying.

Notes

For a milder sauce, remove the seeds from the jalapenos. Store in an airtight container for up to one week. This sauce can also be frozen for up to three months.
