Preparation

  • Add the salted butter to a saucepan and melt over medium-low heat.
  • Once the butter is melted, stir in cracked black pepper with a wooden spoon.
  • Slowly add all-purpose flour using a whisk, stirring continuously for about a minute until well combined.
  • Pour the pan drippings into the saucepan in small batches while whisking continuously.
  • Stir the gravy with a wooden spoon over medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes until it reaches a thick, liquid consistency.
  • Enjoy immediately or cover and cook on low heat until ready to serve.

Notes

For best results, use freshly made pan drippings from a roasted turkey. If needed, supplement with chicken stock. Whisk continuously to avoid lumps, and adjust seasoning to taste. Reheat gently if prepared in advance, adding a splash of stock if necessary.
