Preparation

  • In another bowl, mix together flour, cornmeal, and salt.
  • Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add oil and egg, then combine with the dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  • Knead gently for about 2 minutes on a floured surface until smooth.
  • Allow it to rest for 15 minutes while you prepare the filling.

Cooking

  • In a skillet, brown the ground meat over medium heat until fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks (approximately 7-10 minutes).
  • Stir in the taco seasoning and water; cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until well combined.
  • On a greased baking dish, spread the dough to cover the base.
  • Layer the meat mixture evenly over the dough.
  • Pour salsa on top, ensuring complete coverage.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the salsa layer generously.
  • Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serving

  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes.
  • Slice into portions with a sharp knife.
