Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups hulled fresh strawberries Provides natural sweetness and vibrant flavor.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Enhances sweetness without affecting texture.
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream Creates a rich, creamy base that adds volume.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Offers a depth of flavor that complements the strawberries.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash and hull the fresh strawberries, ensuring they are bright red and ripe for the best flavor.
  • Slice the strawberries in half or quarters for easier blending.
  • Measure out the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and have the heavy whipping cream ready.

Cooking/Assembly

  • In a blender or food processor, combine the sliced strawberries and powdered sugar. Blend until smooth and no chunks remain.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Be sure not to over-whip as this will make the cream grainy.
  • Gently fold the strawberry puree into the whipped cream. Add the vanilla extract during this process for an even flavor distribution. Stir until fully combined but still fluffy.

Serving

  • Spoon the mousse mixture into serving bowls or individual dessert cups.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, allowing it to set before serving.
  • Once chilled, garnish with additional strawberry slices if desired, and serve cool for the best texture and flavor experience.

Notes

Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the sweetest flavor. Store mousse in airtight containers to keep it fresh. This dessert is versatile; consider dairy-free options or adding spices like cayenne for a twist.
