Preparation

  • Wash the cauliflower head thoroughly and remove any blemishes and leaves.
  • Cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets.
  • Chop the fresh herbs finely to release their oils.

Cooking

  • Fill a steaming pot with water, ensuring it doesn’t touch the bottom of the steamer basket.
  • Bring the water to a rolling boil at about 212°F (100°C).
  • Place the cauliflower florets in the basket and steam for 6-8 minutes, until tender yet still crisp.
  • After steaming, transfer the florets to a large bowl.
  • Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and fold in the chopped herbs.

Serving

  • Transfer the steamed cauliflower to a serving dish.
  • Garnish with additional herbs if desired.
  • Serve warm as a side dish or toss into salads.

Notes

Use fresh herbs for maximum flavor and consider alternatives like broccoli or Brussels sprouts. Steam until vibrant and tender but firm to avoid mushiness.
