Seafood and Noodles

Preparation

  • Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Making the Béchamel Sauce

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  • Whisk in flour and stir for about one minute.
  • Slowly pour in clam juice, whisking until smooth.
  • Gradually add milk while whisking until combined.
  • Season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg; simmer until thickened.

Cheese and Seafood Mixture

  • In a bowl, combine ricotta, egg, Parmesan, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  • In another bowl, mix together the shrimp and crab meat.

Layering the Lasagna

  • Spread a layer of béchamel sauce in a baking dish.
  • Arrange lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Layer with béchamel sauce, followed by ricotta mixture and seafood mixture.
  • Sprinkle with Italian cheese blend.
  • Repeat the layering process two more times.
  • Finish with a final layer of noodles, remaining béchamel, and top with Italian cheese blend and Parmesan.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool for 15 minutes before slicing.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh seafood. Pre-cooked options are suitable. Allowing the lasagna to rest prevents messy slices. Broiling can create a crispy top but keep an eye on it.
