Ingredients

For the Salisbury Steak

  • 1 lb Ground beef Provides rich, meaty flavor and protein boost.
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs Binds the patties and adds a slight texture.
  • 1 small Onion For aromatic sweetness that deepens flavor.
  • 1 large Egg Adds moisture and helps bind the meat together.
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Intensifies the savory profile.
  • 1 dash Salt For flavor balance.
  • 1 dash Pepper For flavor balance.

For the Horseradish Parmesan Sauce

  • 1 cup Beef broth A base for the sauce, adding depth and richness.
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream Brings luxurious creaminess to the sauce.
  • 2 tbsp Prepared horseradish Adds a spicy kick to the sauce.
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese Brings a nutty, savory aspect to the creamy sauce.
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil Helps with cooking and adds a touch of healthy fat.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, and a dash of salt and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  • Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, making sure not to overwork the meat to keep them tender.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat (about 350°F or 175°C).

Cooking

  • Add the patties to the hot skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  • Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, pour in the beef broth, scraping up any browned bits for added flavor.
  • Bring the broth to a simmer and reduce by half, then stir in heavy cream, prepared horseradish, and grated Parmesan. Cook until slightly thickened.

Serving

  • Add the cooked Salisbury patties back into the sauce, allowing them to soak up the flavorful mixture for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Plate the patties, smothered in the creamy sauce, and garnish if desired.
  • Enjoy warm, paired with your favorite sides like steamed vegetables or a light salad.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding minced garlic to the meat mixture. Store the patties in an airtight container for optimal freshness.
