Main Ingredients

  • 8 pieces Fresh figs Choose ripe figs for maximum sweetness and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil Adds healthy fats and enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Honey Provides additional sweetness and a beautiful glaze.
  • 1 pinch Sea salt Balances the sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar (optional) A tangy twist for added complexity.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Wash the fresh figs under cold water and gently pat them dry.
  • Slice each fig in half lengthwise to help them roast faster and absorb flavors.
  • Place the fig halves in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil and honey, then gently toss to coat.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the figs for added flavor.

Cook

  • Arrange the figs cut-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • If using, drizzle a bit of balsamic vinegar over them for a flavor boost.
  • Roast in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes until they are soft and caramelized.
  • Keep an eye on them towards the end; they should smell delightful and have a golden-brown hue.

Serve

  • Remove the roasted figs from the oven and allow them to cool for a couple of minutes.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature on a platter, garnished with additional honey or a sprinkle of sea salt if desired.
  • Enjoy them as they are, or pair them with cheese, nuts, or yogurt for a balanced dish.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For a smoky flavor, try roasting them alongside a sprinkle of smoked sea salt. You can also freeze roasted figs for up to 2 months.
