Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients on a clean countertop or table and grab a large mixing bowl.
  • Combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast in the bowl.
  • Gradually add the warm water, mixing until everything comes together.
  • Let the dough rest for about 10 minutes.
  • Incorporate the softened butter and knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Rising

  • Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover it.
  • Allow the dough to rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  • Punch down the dough to release air, then shape it into a loaf.
  • Transfer it to a parchment-lined baking sheet and cover for a second rise of about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Baking

  • Bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Store leftover bread in a paper bag at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze it for up to 3 months.
