Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and eggs—mix until smooth.
  • Slowly mix in the hot water for a thin batter.
  • Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Assemble

  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  • While cooling, whip together the peanut butter, softened butter, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Gradually add water or milk to reach your desired frosting consistency.
  • Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate.
  • Spread a generous layer of frosting on top, then sprinkle with chopped Reese’s.
  • Set the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
  • For the ganache, heat the cream until steaming, then pour over the chocolate chips; stir until smooth.
  • Pour the ganache over the frosted cake and let it drizzle down the sides.

  • Decorate the top with halved Reese’s and crumbled pieces for extra flair.
