  • 1 tbsp Water Adjusts sauce consistency.

Vegetable Additions

  • 1 cup Red Bell Pepper Adds crunch and color.

Preparation

  • Press the tofu: Drain and wrap the tofu in paper towels, placing a heavy object on top to press out excess moisture for about 15 minutes.
  • Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, orange zest, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
  • Dice the tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes for better sauce absorption.
  • Coat the tofu: Toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch and salt in a separate bowl.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat for about 1 minute.
  • Fry the tofu cubes in a single layer for about 3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  • Pour the prepared orange sauce over the tofu and cook for an additional 4–5 minutes, stirring gently.
  • Incorporate the sliced red bell pepper and stir for another 2 minutes to soften.

Serving

  • Scoop cooked rice onto plates, forming a nest for the tofu.
  • Generously spoon the orange tofu mixture over the rice and sprinkle with chopped spring onions.
  • Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure to fully dry the tofu before frying. Leftovers store well in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
