For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef (or chicken, turkey, or bison) Provides flavor and protein.

For the Sauce

  • 1 tsp ginger powder Adds a zesty kick.
  • 1 tsp paprika Introduces heat.
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes Forms the base of the sauce.
  • 1 tbsp raw honey Balances acidity.
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped herbs For garnishing.

For Serving

  • 2 cups cooked quinoa Healthy base.
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt or coconut yogurt Offers creaminess.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, grated shallot, half of the minced garlic, half of the chopped herbs, whisked egg, and crumbled toasted bread.
  • Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly blended.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs, about one tablespoon each.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add one tablespoon of olive oil.
  • Gently place the meatballs in the skillet and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 7-10 minutes.
  • Once browned, transfer the meatballs to a plate and allow them to rest.
  • In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of oil and sauté the remaining garlic, cumin, ginger, and paprika for 30 seconds.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes and honey, along with the remaining chopped herbs.
  • Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 4-5 minutes.
  • Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer until cooked through, about 10 minutes.

Serving

  • Place the meatballs atop cooked quinoa and garnish with freshly chopped herbs before serving.

Notes

To enhance flavors, choose high-quality ground meat. Ensure ingredients are at room temperature before mixing. Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying.
