  • 1 lb fresh shrimp Ensure they are fresh or thawed if frozen.
  • 1 cup fresh mango, diced Adds sweetness.
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple, diced Provides tanginess.
  • 1/2 cup red onion, diced Offers crunch and a slight sharpness.
  • 1 pc serrano chile or jalapeno, minced Adjust based on spice preference.
  • 1 pc Hass avocado, diced Brings creaminess.
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped Enhances flavor.

Dressing and seasoning

  • 1 tsp cumin Adds warmth.
  • 1/4 cup lime juice Provides acidity.
  • 1 tsp kosher salt Enhances flavors.
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper Adds a finishing spice.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Bring salted water to a boil in a small kettle, add the shrimp, and cook for 90 seconds to 3 minutes.
  • Immediately remove the shrimp and submerge in an ice bath.
  • While the shrimp are cooling, chop all remaining ingredients and add them to a medium bowl.
  • Add the cooked shrimp to the bowl, stir well, and taste for seasoning balance. Make adjustments as necessary.

Serving

  • Serve the salad with tortilla chips or seasoned tortilla chips.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the shrimp to maintain a tender texture. Optionally add more serrano peppers for extra heat.
