Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients on your kitchen counter.
  • Preheat your skillet on medium heat for 3-5 minutes.
  • If preferred, drizzle honey or maple syrup on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Shred the cheese if not pre-shredded for even melting.
  • Rinse the blueberries under cold water and dry them gently.

Cooking

  • Lightly butter the outer sides of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice on the skillet, butter-side down.
  • Add half of the shredded cheese, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the blueberries on top of the cheese layer.
  • Add the remaining cheese over the blueberries and top with the second slice of bread, butter side up.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown, then carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula.
  • Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden and the cheese has melted.

Serving

  • Once both sides are golden and crispy, remove the sandwich from the skillet.
  • Allow it to cool for a minute to help the cheese set slightly.
  • Cut the sandwich in half, serve warm, and enjoy!
  • Consider adding a drizzle of honey on top for extra sweetness, if desired.
