Preparation

  • Rinse the jasmine rice in a colander, shaking off excess water.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine water or low-sodium chicken broth, rinsed rice, ginger, garlic, butter, salt, and pepper.

Cooking

  • Bring the mixture to a low boil over medium heat.
  • Lower the heat to a low simmer and cover the saucepan.
  • Let it cook for 20-25 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat, fluff the rice with a fork, and serve topped with chopped scallions if desired.

Notes

Avoid skipping the rinsing step to prevent gummy rice. Adjust liquid based on your texture preference. For extra flavor, sauté ginger and garlic in butter before adding other ingredients.
