  • 1 handful of fresh basil leaves Choose vibrant, green leaves without blemishes for maximum flavor.
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil Opt for high-quality olive oil for the best taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt (or 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt), to taste Ideal for enhancing the natural flavors of the tomatoes.
  • Freshly ground black pepper Adds a necessary kick that brings the whole salad together.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Slice the tomatoes into 1/4 inch thick slices using a serrated knife, aiming for uniformity.
  • On a large serving platter, overlap the slices of tomatoes, varying their shapes for visual interest.
  • Cut the burrata or mozzarella into 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch slices and tuck the cheese around and underneath the arranged tomatoes.
  • Sprinkle torn basil leaves all over the salad for a burst of color and freshness.
  • Generously drizzle the extra-virgin olive oil over the entire salad.
  • Sprinkle flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper over the salad as desired.
  • Allow the salad to rest for 30 minutes for optimum flavor before serving.
