Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, vanilla pudding mix, and ground cinnamon.
  • Add in room temperature eggs, water, milk, and vegetable oil.
  • Stir until well blended—aim for a smooth batter without lumps—approximately 2 minutes.
  • Let the batter rest for a few minutes while you prepare for the next phase.

Cooking

  • Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle half of the dark brown sugar evenly over the batter.
  • Carefully pour the remaining batter over the brown sugar layer.
  • Top with the remaining dark brown sugar, ensuring even coverage.
  • Gently swirl the top layer with a spatula for a marbled effect.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Serving

  • Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  • Prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.
