Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients; ensure the chicken is cut into even-sized cubes for uniform cooking.
  • In a large bowl, combine plain yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, garam masala, cumin, turmeric, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.
  • Add the cubed chicken to the marinade, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for more flavor.

Cooking

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, about 400°F (200°C).
  • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  • Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
  • Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden-brown and fully cooked, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Serving

  • Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let the chicken rest for a few minutes.
  • Serve the Grilled Chicken Tikka on a platter, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
  • Pair with whole grain sides, salads, or your favorite vegetables to complete the meal.

Notes

For best results, let the chicken marinate overnight. Use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness. Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 3-4 days.
