Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, granulated sugar, and kosher salt, whisking until blended.
  • Cut cold unsalted butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gently fold in frozen blueberries until evenly distributed.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk and whisked egg. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Cooking

  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 30 seconds.
  • Pat the dough into a rectangle, about 1 inch thick, and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.
  • Brush the tops with the egg wash made from the whisked egg and water.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until tops are lightly browned and a toothpick comes out clean.

Serving

  • Allow biscuits to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet.
  • Mix powdered sugar, cream, and lemon juice until smooth and drizzle over warm biscuits.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Use very cold butter for flakiness. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For freezing, biscuits can be stored for 3 months.
