Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and tools; have everything ready within arm’s reach.
  • Chop the onion and garlic finely.
  • Roughly chop the parsley and dill; set aside for later.
  • Halve the lemon and prepare the chili flakes.
  • Fill a large pot with water, adding a generous pinch of salt, and bring it to a boil over high heat.

Cooking

  • Once the water is boiling, add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente (usually about 7-10 minutes).
  • While the noodles cook, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  • When the noodles are done, drain them and add them to the skillet with the butter and garlic mixture.
  • Toss everything together gently and let the noodles absorb some flavors for about 2 minutes.

Serving

  • Mix in the fresh parsley and dill, squeezing the lemon juice over the top.
  • Sprinkle in the chili pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Finish by adding grated mature cheddar cheese on top.
  • Serve immediately, garnishing with extra herbs or cheese if desired.

Notes

For best results, use roasted garlic for a more intense flavor. Add cheese in stages to enhance meltiness. Store leftover noodles in an airtight container. Experiment with whole wheat or gluten-free noodles.
