Ingredients

For the Batter

  • 1 cup Flour Coats the pickles to create a crispy exterior.
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil Adds a hint of herbal flavor.
  • 1 tsp Dried Parsley A lovely mild taste to complement the spices.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder For that savory kick.
  • 1 tsp Salt Brings all the flavors together.
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper A little heat to balance the flavors.
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper Optional, adds spice.
  • 1 cup Milk Helps create a smooth batter and adds richness.

For Frying

  • 1 quart Vegetable Oil Used for frying, gives a crunchy texture.
  • 1 cup Dill Pickle Slices The star of the show, providing tangy flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients and measure them out.
  • Drain the dill pickle slices well before frying to avoid soggy pickles.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, dried basil, dried parsley, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

Cooking

  • In a deep skillet or pot, heat about 1 quart of vegetable oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
  • Dip each dill pickle slice into milk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture.
  • Carefully place the coated pickles into the hot oil. Fry them in small batches until they’re golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the pickles and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  • Serve the fried pickles on a large plate.
  • Pair with your favorite sauce, like ranch or spicy mayo.
  • Enjoy the crunch with friends or family!

Notes

Let the fried pickles cool completely before storing in an airtight container to maintain crunch. Re-crisp in an oven if reheating leftover pickles.
