  • 1-2 teaspoons caraway seeds Offers a mild anise-like flavor; can substitute with dill or omit.
  • Salt and Pepper Essential for enhancing overall flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel the outer leaves away from the head of fresh cabbage and discard.
  • Slice the cabbage in half and remove the core.
  • Shred the remaining cabbage thinly.

Cooking

  • Melt the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the shredded cabbage and stir to coat in the butter.
  • Sauté the cabbage until it has cooked down and is beginning to brown on the edges, about 10 minutes.
  • Add caraway seeds and salt and pepper to taste; stir well and serve warm.

Notes

Always select a fresh cabbage with firm, crisp leaves for the best texture. Don’t rush the cooking process; allow sufficient time for the cabbage to brown and caramelize for maximum flavor. To store leftover Fried Cabbage, allow it to cool completely, then transfer it to an airtight container. It can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
