Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on the countertop.
  • Chop the yellow onions finely, ensuring even cooking.
  • Remove the stems from fresh thyme leaves, and measure out 2 teaspoons.
  • Set out a large skillet and wooden spoon for cooking.

Cooking

  • Heat the butter and canola oil in a skillet over medium heat until butter melts.
  • Add chopped onions and sprinkle with kosher salt.
  • Sauté the onions for about 15–20 minutes, stirring frequently until they are soft and caramelized.
  • In the last five minutes, add fresh thyme leaves and soy sauce, stirring to combine.
  • Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked onion mixture with Greek yogurt, sour cream, and onion powder.

Serving

  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and spread it evenly.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  • Serve with fresh vegetable sticks, chips, or crackers.
  • Enjoy the creamy goodness with friends and family or store it for your meal prep.

Notes

Best served chilled. This dip can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
