Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of warm water with 1 tablespoon of sugar. Stir gently until dissolved.
  • Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast over the surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it gets bubbly and frothy.
  • Stir in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of fine sea salt.
  • Gradually mix in 2 to 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, until the dough starts to pull away from the bowl.

Cooking

  • Dust a clean surface with flour and knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes in a warm spot until it doubles in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) if you’re baking your pizza.

Serving

  • After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to your desired thickness on a floured surface.
  • Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet, and add your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings.
  • Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
