  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes Peeled and cubed.
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream Adds richness.
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp Ground pepper For seasoning.
  • 1 tsp Coarse kosher salt Adjust to taste.

Optional Garnish

  • 2 tbsp Chives or scallions Chopped, for garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the peeled and cubed Russet potatoes in a large saucepan or Dutch oven.
  • Fill the pan with cold water until the potatoes are fully submerged.
  • Heat over medium-high heat until the water reaches a low boil.

Cooking

  • Continue boiling for about 10 minutes or until the potatoes can be easily pierced with a fork.
  • Pour the potatoes into a colander and let them drain thoroughly.
  • Place the drained potatoes back in the cooking pot for mixing.

Mashing

  • Incorporate heavy cream, unsalted butter, ground pepper, and coarse kosher salt.
  • Use a potato masher or hand-held electric blender, being careful not to overmix the potatoes.
  • If needed, add cream or milk one tablespoon at a time until reaching your desired consistency.

Serving

  • Top with chives or scallions, or offer additional butter for a rich finish.

Notes

Use fresh, high-quality potatoes and avoid overboiling or overmixing for the best texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
