For the Tiramisu

  • 1 large egg Optional ingredient that adds richness and stability.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Sweetens the cream mixture for a pleasing taste.
  • 1 cup cold coffee Provides that beloved coffee flavor to the dessert.
  • 16 oz mascarpone cheese The star ingredient, giving a luxurious creamy texture.
  • 1 cup cold cream Adds lightness and helps to create a fluffy consistency.
  • 24 pieces lady fingers The base of the dessert, they absorb the coffee and soften beautifully.
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened Dutch processed cocoa Dusting ingredient that enhances flavor and aesthetics.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, beat together the sugar and egg until frothy for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the cold coffee, mascarpone, and cream, and beat until thickened to your desired consistency.
  • Place cold coffee in a large dish. Quickly dip lady fingers in coffee, making sure not to let them soak too long.
  • Layer dipped cookies in an 8-inch baking dish with half of the filling, then repeat for a second layer.
  • Refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours or overnight to let the flavors meld.
  • Before serving, dust with cocoa or chocolate shavings.

Storage

  • Keep it covered in the refrigerator for 4-5 days or freeze leftovers for up to a month.

Notes

Serve with fresh berries or whipped cream. Can also be prepared a day in advance for enhanced flavor.
