Preparation

  • Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture by placing it between paper towels and setting a weight on top for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Once pressed, cut the tofu into nugget-sized pieces.
  • In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Coat each tofu piece in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to ensure it sticks.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Arrange the coated tofu nuggets in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  • Cook for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through for even browning.
  • Check for a golden-brown color on the outside to ensure they are crispy.

Serving

  • Once cooked, remove the nuggets from the air fryer and let them sit for a few minutes to firm up.
  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
  • Enjoy as a snack or as part of a meal alongside veggies or a salad.

Notes

For extra crispy nuggets, ensure tofu is pressed well to eliminate moisture. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. These nuggets can be frozen for up to 2 months.
