For Coating

  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese For added sharpness.
  • 1 tbsp fresh chopped dill Enhances appearance.
  • 1 tsp lemon zest Adds vibrancy.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and sour cream.
  • Add garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste, and blend until smooth with an electric mixer (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Chop dill pickles and fresh dill, and set aside.

Cooking/Assembling

  • Fold in chopped dill pickles and fresh dill into the cream cheese mixture.
  • Shape the mixture into a ball using your hands.
  • In a separate dish, combine shredded cheddar, chopped dill, and lemon zest, then roll the cheese ball in this mixture until coated.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Serving

  • Remove from fridge, unwrap, and place on a serving plate.
  • Garnish with additional dill if desired, and serve with crackers or veggies.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. For a creamier texture, let cream cheese soften to room temperature before mixing. Consider adding cayenne pepper for extra zing!
