Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure they are fresh.
  • Clean the mushrooms using a damp cloth or paper towel and slice them evenly.
  • Mince the garlic finely.
  • Measure out your stock, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, heavy cream, and thyme.

Cooking

  • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it’s foamy.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until golden and tender.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in your stock, stirring to deglaze the pan, and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Mix in the Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
  • Lower the heat and slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  • Add the fresh thyme leaves and stir for an aromatic finish.

Serving

  • Remove from heat and taste for seasoning; add salt or pepper as desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, allow mushrooms to caramelize more before adding garlic. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for 2 months.
