  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt Enhances the sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon Cotton Candy Flavoring The star ingredient for that signature taste.
  • a few drops Food Coloring (optional) Adds a fun, festive color to your popcorn.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools including a large pot with a lid, a baking sheet, and parchment paper.
  • Pop the popcorn kernels using your preferred method (stovetop, air fryer, or microwave) until popping slows. Remove unpopped kernels.

Cooking/Assembling

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and mix it with the sugar and salt.
  • Stir constantly until the mixture boils gently for about 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  • Add in the cotton candy flavoring and optional food coloring. Mix until combined.
  • Pour the mixture over the popcorn in stages, gently tossing to ensure even coating.

Serving

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the coated popcorn to cool.
  • Allow to cool for about 15 minutes. Optionally, add extra cotton candy on top before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week. For an extra crunch, bake at 200°F for 15 minutes. Use coconut oil for a different flavor profile.
