Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk Adds moisture.

Filling

  • 3 cups chopped apples Provides juicy sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar Offers deeper sweetness.
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon Infuses warmth and spice.

Topping and Glaze

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Creates a sweet, crispy layer.
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar Sweetens the glaze.
  • 2 tablespoons water Combines with confectioners’ sugar.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease and flour your loaf pan.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; then set aside.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract using an electric mixer until smooth and pale.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
  • With the mixer on low, add half of the flour mixture, alternating with half the milk, then add remaining flour mixture and milk, and mix to combine.

Filling and Layering

  • In another bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped apples; set aside.
  • Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, followed by half the apple mixture. Lightly swirl through the batter using a knife.
  • Pour the remaining batter over the apple layer and add the remaining apple mixture. Swirl again with a knife and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.

Baking

  • Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool the bread in the pan for 15-20 minutes.

Glazing

  • While the bread cools, whisk together the glaze ingredients until smooth.
  • Transfer the bread to a cooling rack and drizzle the glaze on top, allowing it to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Use a sweet apple variety like Fuji or Honeycrisp for best flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-5 days at room temperature.
