Ingredients
  

For the Marinade

  • 1 pound chicken breast Cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt For marinating the chicken
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger Minced
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Sauce

  • 1 medium onion Chopped
  • 1 cup tomato sauce Forms the base of the sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream For richness
  • 2 tablespoons oil For sautéing
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro For garnish

Preparation

  • Chop your chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces for even cooking.
  • Mix yogurt, garlic, ginger, garam masala, ground cumin, paprika, and salt in a bowl. Toss in chicken, ensuring it’s well-coated. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes or up to a few hours for deeper flavor.

Cooking

  • In a large pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and golden, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook for about 7–10 minutes until no longer pink.
  • Stir in the tomato sauce and simmer for 10 minutes. Then, mix in the heavy cream and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve the chicken tikka masala over steamed rice or warm naan.
  • Sprinkle fresh cilantro on top for a vibrant finish.

Notes

Make ahead and enjoy it throughout the week. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Freezing for up to 3 months is also an option.
