For the Lasagna

  • 1.5 cups coarsely grated whole milk mozzarella cheese Melts perfectly, creating gooey cheese pockets.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large pan, heat olive oil. Add sliced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Stir in the canned tomatoes, salt, and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Mix crème fraîche, Parmesan, and half of the mozzarella in a bowl and set aside.

Cooking/Assembling

  • Spread a layer of tomato sauce in a baking dish.
  • Place 4 no-boil lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Add half of the cheese mixture on top of the noodles.
  • Repeat layers: sauce, noodles, cheese, until you finish with sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and torn basil over the final layer.

Serving

  • Bake the lasagna for about 30-35 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Serve warm with a sprinkle more of fresh basil on top for extra flair.

Notes

For a creamier texture, mix in a bit of ricotta cheese with the crème fraîche. Let your lasagna sit for about 10 minutes before slicing; it holds together better. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For an extra depth of flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to your sauce. Try swapping lasagna noodles or use vegetables for layers if you want a lighter dish.
