Ingredients

Pizza Base

  • 1 batch Pizza Dough Forms the crispy and chewy base
  • 1 cup Pizza Sauce Adds rich flavor and moisture
  • 2 cups Cheese Creates that melty, gooey texture
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Helps crisp the crust and adds healthy fats

Toppings

  • As needed Toppings (pepperoni, vegetables, etc.) Personalize your pizza with favorite toppings

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather your ingredients: Assemble all your pizza components and ensure you have your cooking setup ready.
  • Prepare the cooking surface: If using aluminum foil, create a sturdy base for the pizza. A cast iron skillet can be preheated directly on the fire.
  • Roll out the dough: On a clean, floured surface, flatten the pizza dough into your desired shape and thickness.
  • Brush with olive oil: Lightly coat one side of the dough to help it crisp up.

Cooking

  • Assemble the pizza: Place the dough, oiled side down, on the foil or skillet over the flames.
  • Spread the sauce: Evenly distribute pizza sauce across the top of the dough.
  • Add the cheese: Generously sprinkle cheese over the sauce.
  • Add toppings: Select your favorite toppings and distribute them evenly over the cheese.
  • Cover and cook: If using foil, fold over to create a pouch; if using a skillet, cover with a lid. Cook for 10-15 minutes, checking frequently until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Serving

  • Check for doneness: The crust should be nicely browned, and the cheese thoroughly melted.
  • Remove from fire: Carefully take your pizza off the heat using tongs.
  • Let it cool slightly: Allow the pizza to sit for a couple of minutes before slicing.
  • Slice and serve: Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut into wedges, and serve hot.

Notes

Experiment with different toppings and herbs for additional flavor. Store leftovers in foil or an airtight container.
