Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups Chopped tomatoes (Roma, hothouse cluster, or beefsteak) Use the ripest tomatoes for best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Flaky sea salt Maldon sea salt is ideal.
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced Adjust based on taste preference.
  • 1/4 cup Olive oil Use high-quality olive oil for richness.
  • 2 tablespoons White balsamic vinegar Can substitute with other types of vinegar.
  • 1/2 cup Fresh basil, minced Add more for a stronger basil flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Finely chop the tomatoes and place them in a large bowl with all their juices.
  • Sprinkle in the salt and stir to combine.
  • Incorporate the minced garlic, olive oil, white balsamic vinegar, and minced basil into the tomatoes.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the salt in 1/2 teaspoon increments until properly seasoned.
  • If desired, add more olive oil for richness or extra vinegar for acidity.
  • To enhance the basil flavor, add more minced basil if preferred.
  • If the sauce is too juicy, strain out some liquid, being mindful of losing flavorful juices.

Notes

For the best flavor, let the sauce sit for about 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Use it creatively on salads, grilled meats, or as a dip.
