Ingredients

For the brisket rub

  • 1/4 cup Light Brown Sugar Offers a subtle sweetness that caramelizes beautifully.
  • 2 tablespoons Sea Salt Enhances the brisket’s natural flavors.
  • 2 tablespoons Smoked Paprika Contributes a rich, smoky depth.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Pepper Adds warmth with just a hint of spice.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Introduces a savory note to round out the flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients to ensure smooth preparation.
  • In a large bowl, combine the light brown sugar, sea salt, smoked paprika, ground pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Mix thoroughly until the spices are evenly distributed.
  • Transfer the rub into a sealed container, allowing the flavors to mingle for at least 15 minutes.

Cooking

  • Preheat your grill to 225°F (107°C) for a perfect low and slow cook.
  • Generously apply your brisket rub to all sides of the brisket, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  • Wrap the brisket in plastic wrap, allowing it to marinate for at least one hour (overnight is better).
  • Once marinated, place the brisket on the grill, cooking it low and slow for about 10-12 hours until tender.
  • Look for an internal temperature of at least 195°F (90°C) for perfect doneness.

Serving

  • Remove the brisket from the grill and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing to preserve the juices.
  • Slice against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Serve warm with your favorite sides or incorporate into wraps for a delicious meal prep option.

Notes

Use fresh spices for maximum flavor impact. Consider letting the brisket sit overnight after applying the rub for deeper flavors. Wrap leftover brisket tightly in foil to retain moisture during storage.
