Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 8 slices Cubed bread Use stale bread for best results.
  • 2 cups Milk Any type of milk, including dairy or plant-based.
  • 1 cup Sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 4 large Eggs Bind the pudding and add protein.
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Infuses warmth and spice.
  • 1 cup Raisins (optional) Adds chewy texture and sweetness.
  • 4 tablespoons Melted butter Adds richness and helps with browning.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cube your bread; if it’s not stale, lightly toast it.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Whisk until smooth.
  • If using raisins, add them to the cubed bread in a separate bowl.
  • Pour the milk mixture over the cubed bread and gently mix until all pieces are evenly coated. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.

Cooking

  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  • Bake for about 40-45 minutes. The pudding should be firm and have a golden-brown top.
  • Check doneness by inserting a knife into the center; a clean knife means it’s done.

Serving

  • Let the bread pudding cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve warm with your favorite toppings such as yogurt or syrups.

Notes

Use high-quality bread for better flavor; substitute with nut milk for a dairy-free option. Let bread soak overnight for maximum flavor, and store leftovers in an airtight container.
