Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on the counter; this makes the process smoother and faster.
  • Minced the fresh ginger and garlic, ensuring they’re finely chopped for maximum flavor release.
  • Measure out your tamari, mirin, brown sugar, honey, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water, and have them all ready to go.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the tamari, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, honey, sesame oil, and mirin over medium heat.
  • Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves completely, about 2-3 minutes.
  • In a separate small bowl, mix the water and cornstarch until smooth, then slowly whisk it into the sauce mixture.
  • Continue cooking for another 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken. It should coat the back of a spoon when ready.

Serving

  • Remove from heat, and taste for seasoning. Adjust sweetness or saltiness as desired.
  • Pour over your favorite grilled chicken, stir-fried veggies, or even tofu.
  • Serve immediately for the best flavor or store for meal prep throughout the week.

Notes
