Preparation

  • In a large bowl or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream the unsalted butter and salt on low speed until the mixture is pale and creamy.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar and heavy cream in small increments, alternating between the two while mixing on low speed for about three minutes.
  • If needed, incorporate additional powdered sugar or heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract thoroughly into the frosting mixture.
  • Increase the mixer speed to high and whip the frosting for about two to three minutes until it is light and fluffy.
  • Occasionally scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing. Use the frosting immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Utilize room-temperature ingredients for a smooth and creamy texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze for several months. Re-whip to regain fluffiness.
