For the Jello Layers

  • 1 packets Jello (red and blue) Adds vibrant color and fruity flavor.
  • 2 cups water Essential for preparing Jello.

For the Topping

  • 1 container Cool Whip For a creamy topping.
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries Fresh and decorative element.
  • 1 cup blueberries Adds a patriotic touch.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions.
  • Prepare the cake mix as directed on the package.
  • Pour the batter into a greased pan and bake until golden and a toothpick comes out clean, usually about 25-30 minutes.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.

Jello Layering

  • Once the cake is cooled, cut it into squares.
  • Prepare the Jello by dissolving it in boiling water and adding cold water as instructed on the package.
  • Pour half of the red Jello over the cake squares, ensuring it seeps between them.
  • Chill until set, then repeat with the blue Jello.

Serving

  • Once both layers of Jello are set, top the cake with Cool Whip.
  • Decorate with fresh strawberries and blueberries for a festive touch.
  • Slice and serve chilled for a refreshing dessert.

Notes

For best results, use a serrated knife to cut the cake for neat slices. Make the cake a day ahead to allow the layers to set perfectly.
