  • 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded) Sharpness and creaminess that binds the casserole together.
  • 1 yellow onion (diced) Adds flavor; can be substituted with green onions for a milder taste.
  • 2 cups sour cream Provides creaminess; Greek yogurt can be a lower-calorie alternative.
  • 10 oz can cream of chicken soup (or cream of celery) For richness; consider low-fat soup for a healthier option.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Enhances flavor; can switch it out for soy sauce for a different profile.
  • 1 tsp kosher salt Essential seasoning to bring out the flavors.
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper Adds a bit of heat; adjust according to preference.

Notes

For better flavor and texture, use freshly shredded cheese. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, and you can freeze it for later enjoyment.
