  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 25 oz marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella torn or shredded
  • Parsley for garnish
  • Olive oil

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375℉ and coat a 9×13 pan with olive oil.
  2. Boil pasta 1–2 minutes short of package directions until al dente.
  3. Brown ground beef in a large sauté pan until cooked, drain excess.
  4. Stir marinara into beef mixture and simmer gently.
  5. Mix basil, garlic, oregano with ricotta in a bowl.
  6. Toss pasta with sauce, layer half in pan.
  7. Spread ricotta mixture over pasta, top with remaining pasta.
  8. Scatter mozzarella on top and cover with foil.
  9. Bake 20–25 minutes, uncover, bake 10 minutes more until golden.
  10. Rest 10 minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Cook pasta just shy of al dente to prevent mushiness. Let lasagna rest before slicing for perfect layers.
