Ingredients

Brownie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Provides richness; can substitute with coconut oil for a dairy-free version.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Enhances chocolate flavor; use dark chocolate for a richer taste.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar Adds sweetness; can reduce to 1.5 cups for lower sugar content.
  • 1/4 teaspoon table salt Balances sweetness; kosher salt works too.
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder Provides deep chocolate flavor; use unsweetened cocoa for less sugar.
  • 3 large eggs Binds the ingredients; use flax eggs for a vegan alternative.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Adds depth; pure vanilla extract is preferred.
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Creates structure; whole wheat flour can be used for added fiber.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Line an 8 by 8 inch baking pan with parchment paper or spray it with cooking spray.
Mixing
  1. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter and chocolate chips together, stirring to prevent burning until smooth.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the melted butter mixture with sugar and salt, stirring until well combined.
  3. Mix in the cocoa powder until fully combined.
  4. Incorporate eggs and vanilla extract into the mixture, stirring until smooth.
  5. Add the flour and mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few crumbs.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking. Letting the brownies cool completely before cutting ensures the perfect texture and presentation.
