Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until perfectly cooked.
- Drain any excess fat, then add the chopped onion and minced garlic into the skillet. Cook until the onion turns translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Allow to simmer for 5-7 minutes until it thickens.
Assembly
- Transfer the beef mixture into a spacious casserole dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
- Spread the creamy mashed potatoes over the filling, covering it entirely. Dot with butter and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top if desired.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
Notes
You can prepare the filling in advance and refrigerate it until ready to bake. Leftovers can be stored covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. For a healthier version, consider using ground turkey or lentils.
