Preparation
- Drain and press tofu by removing excess water using a tofu press or placing it between a clean tea towel with something heavy on top for 20-30 minutes.
- Prepare the marinade by combining sweet soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated garlic, red pepper flakes, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and 3 tablespoons water in a small bowl or ramekin. Whisk until well mixed.
- Slice the pressed tofu into triangles or cubes, depending on your preference.
- Evenly coat each piece of tofu in the remaining cornstarch.
Cooking
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Add tofu pieces in a single layer and pan fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
- Pour the prepared marinade into the pan and quickly turn the tofu pieces to coat thoroughly on both sides.
- Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped green onions.
Notes
Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying, and ensure tofu is well-pressed for crispiness. Experiment with additional garnishes for flavor depth.
