Ingredients

For the Creamed Spinach
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for sautéing the garlic and adding richness.
  • 1 clove garlic, pressed or minced enhances the flavor profile of the dish.
  • 1 cup heavy cream creates a creamy texture essential for this recipe.
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt to enhance the dish flavors.
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper adds a slight kick.
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg provides warmth and depth.
  • 1 pound fresh spinach leaves the star ingredient, packed with nutrients.
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese adds savory notes and creaminess.

Method

Preparation
  1. Melt the butter in a large sauté pan over medium heat until it begins bubbling.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a boil.
  4. Lower the heat to medium and simmer the cream, stirring occasionally until it thickens and reduces by half (about 25 minutes).
  5. Stir in the kosher salt, ground pepper, and nutmeg as the cream thickens.
  6. Working in batches, add the spinach to the cream sauce, tossing to coat until wilted.
  7. Once all spinach is incorporated, add in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese and toss until melted.
  8. Serve warm, sprinkled with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
